Y'all can't have it both ways- if something did actually happen and several people who were detained later could not be arrested.
As for people from Conn. getting tickets for going '5 ' miles over the limit.... where are you driving?? Most people on the roads in Westchester County are going 20+ miles over the speed limit....if the cop only have you 5, you lucked out. I've been stopped while other people were flying by...it sucks but it wasn't 'wrong'.....sheet happens dude.
You can't be mad about them catching you breaking the law....just own up to it and let them do their job. You could just Not break the law and move along. View Comment
It's getting old with the raising of the taxes due to the schools. I want to know where the money is going... these kids go to school and in 5 years of Peekskill attendance, he's had a book only one and for one class. WTF am I paying for if he can't even get a book to bring home to study with??? View Comment
Are you serious?? Robin, where do you live that such disgusting things are going on??
People like that need to get a clue and get a life. Yelling at people because of their race or their political choices is gross :( I hate to think that I am living in a state and country that houses those types of people. View Comment
Sure it could... we could go back to the Bush years... either will do! Prop up a war to "improve the economy" but it seems that only pals of the pres' got that improvement. View Comment
Robin, if you ever decide to run for office here in NY, you'd probably have my vote. Rarely have I seen such clear understanding of things how they are as opposed to how someone tells us they are.

A few more hint for Republicans wanting to improve their standing for future elections...
1. Don't block the president (regardless of party) at every turn, promising to make sure nothing of his goes through and ending up make all of the people in this country suffer. We tend to remember that...a LOT! And we don't blame it on the president... get it?
2. Keep your moronic male politicians out of womens' issues. You don't know what it's like to be raped, and you probably never will. So STFU about it.
3. Same thing about contraception... if you don't want to use it, don't! But don't make it the cornerstone of your campaign... if that and rape being a divine thing is all you have to talk about, you need to go somewhere else... perhaps the middle east could use your "brilliance".
4. Remember, that in the end, there are over 300,000,000 people in this country that are All affected by the decisions you make (or don't make). Stop the lobbyists from deciding what happens to us... stand up and... you know, Take a Stand. View Comment
Okay, this was a total mess! The roads were not prepared for the storm, neither it seems were the drivers of cars... come on people, we've had almost 2 weeks of warnings that this storm was coming-put your snow tires on or stay off the roads!
I can't tell you how many little cars I saw sliding away down roads, off to the sides of the roads or down embankments because they couldn't handle the roads.
Yes, the roads were totally unprepared- it appeared that there were no salting trucks nor plows for the entire 90 minute trip last night...one that usually takes me 30-40 minutes.
And yes, I know- people had to get out to work and a lot of them must have been usually transit people, so not used to driving maybe... I'm sure a lot of them had bosses that said, you don't come in, you don't get paid... (and then said, stay off the roads people... ahem, yeah, right) but safety has to be number 1... and last night an awful lot of people made a hazardous trip much more so for their fellow drivers.

I want to send a big shout out to Peekskill DPW! Getting out to work this morning was a breeze and, of all the communities I had to drive through to get to work today (including horriblly handled White Plains), Peekskill was the best!
A job Well Done folks! View Comment
...'ridiculous pensions for greedy union members'? gee, guess we don't have to guess which side of the aisle you sit on. How about honoring previously agreed upon contracts? Oh wait, that's for the peons and they don't count, only the 'bond holders' should be considered....pfft.
As for the debate, from the first question from the student...which I feel wasn't answered by either of them, to the question about gm....it wasn't really all that informative. For those who know who they're voting for, they still know and for those that don't, this didn't help... View Comment
I'm shocked at how little air time this got, across the board. After the theater shooting, you couldn't turn to a channel that has news without hearing about it(rightfully so). I had to turn to several News stations, finally finding it on CNN, before just going online to find out what happened.
There is never going to be FREEDOM for all, of religion or anything else in this country as long as people think Freedom only includes the stuff they believe in.... Look at some of the comments in news and online... people basically coming out and saying, well if you didn't wear a turban, blah blah blah... it sickens me. I guess men going to temple in yamikas or women who still cover their hair, going to church should start changing, huh... View Comment
I would rather not have a methadone clinic in the city. Having seen them in other cities, I think Peekskill has enough trouble without bringing more to it's doors. All of a sudden, lots of drug busts on Washington Street... what's going on there now? People renting out houses they can't sell (or low ball bought) to anyone that comes along... big gangs of men hanging out by the A&P... I don't even shop there anymore. Maybe they're harmless... but I don't want to be the one to find out.
Isn't this the time to build the city UP? Let's not be another Yonkers or Mt Vernon... Methadone hasn't helped them none... we should be working on BRINGING People in... you know, the ones with $$$ to spend, not more headaches.
PS- There would have been more signatures if more of us had been aware of the petition. View Comment
This should definitely include ALL politicians. I can't begin to tell you how annoying it is to get calls on the weekend or during the dinner hour (hah... hour)! Especially from rude and nasty individuals. Maybe it's a complaint best for Verizon... since I pay for a supposedly private number, I would love to know how it's given out for all these calls! I would LOVE to see a Trader Joes or Whole Food! Bring in one of those to that spot, an IKEA to the Circuit City spot and we'll maybe see things look up. I've pretty much had it with S&S's expired stuff on the shelves and A&P's cold and frozen foods having issues. Let's bring in someplace that really wants our $$... View Comment
I seem to remember the nurses explaining the security wristlet and rules in place for the babies safety. I can't imagine it is any different at other hospitals... nurses can't pick and choose who might 'look honest or safe, the rules have to apply to everyone....even rich people who choose to go to the same hospitals as the rest of us. Own up to your mistake, apologize to the nurses and have your next kid at home....no one but it's parents will be concerned with safety issues....oh. NM. View Comment
I'm not saying I'm the only driver, nor am I the Traffic Czar... however, if I were, I'd have rethought the process on this traffic "inconvenience". I know the folks in trucks have to go to work as well, there are plenty of ways for them around without having to drive up to Haverstraw, come across the bridge and then drive down 9/9A. If they must, then temporarily at least, I do think they should be restricted during rush hour.
For the Taconic folks, there are some other ways of getting around, but for some of us that use 9/9A... that's it... there's no where else to go without getting there on that roadway. If i had an alternative route, I'd try it... but I'd have to drive on 9 to get there...
and, for a bridge that has over 200,000 cars a day? (week?) over it, I think a little more thought could have been given to where they were going to go when this started.

I forgot all about school being closed :( Yep, next week WILL be a horror...I got to White Plains with 10 minutes to spare today... and that is including the 10 minutes behind the school bus from yonkers, putting along in the left lane. (why school buses when there's no school up here?) View Comment
