Who is watching the kids while they are off for 2 weeks? They are left alone or parents have to scramble to find caretakers, or pay hundreds of dollars for day camp. How is this impacting other school vacations during the school year, are they taking away those days? Hey, our taxes pay a lot to the school, the school needs to be open and give kids an education, kids need to be in school and learn to prepare for higher education and good jobs, why are we taking kids away from school. Educate the kids on January 2 and 3 for year 2014. Unless the school system will pay for our family European/Hawaiian vacation! it is bad enough with all these HALF days and other days off, our kids need more learning and more education, don't complain about low scores when you want to take school away, then parents have to hire tutors and home-school for the lack of education. My water was brown and at least 5 other houses of people whom I spoke to, there are a lot more houses in our neighborhood, I don't know the #, but it had to be more than 12 homes inconvenienced with brown water. Plus one our toilets became inusable and had to be serviced, because a part was clogged probably from the brown whatever-that-was. Unfortunately that morning of brown water, I made black coffee and noticed the brown water while dish washing after I drank the coffee. No diarrhea but euwwwwww! If the brown water messed up the flushing mechanism of a toilet, what did it do/ is doing to my excretory/ renal system? View Comment

How about rt. 119, Tarrytown Rd., White Plains KMart? If that store goes, there are no other anchor stores except Models Sporting Goods. The A&P left and I believe nothing replaced it. I am concerned for this shopping center. There's Barnes & Noble, GameStop, Petland Discounts, but if that KMart leaves, these stores will be impacted with it's loss. View Comment
