Coals, which has wowed diners with its paper-thin, grilled pizzas since 2004, is set to open in mid-August on Parkway Road, across from the Metro-North station where the Station House used to call home. The new location will feature a similar menu with an expanded bar and drink options for patrons.

The first Coals opened in 2004 in the Bronx, where it was the borough’s first grilled pizza restaurant. The franchise then expanded into Port Chester in 2012, and now, to Bronxville just two years later.

Tim Shanley, who will serve as a managing partner at the Bronxville location, said that they would look to keep the same relaxed, comfortable atmosphere that the previous restaurants have become known for. He said that the menu would feature expanded selections of draft and bottled beer, as well as an expansive wine list.

There will be private parking at the location on weekdays after 6 p.m.

“The village is so alive it seems tailor-made for the unique dining experience that Coals offers,” he said in a statement. “We couldn’t have found a better location.”

Chef, and fellow partner Billy Etzel, who will also run the restaurant with the assistant of his wife, Jennifer, noted that Coals is about more than just its wide selection of pizza and Italian fare citing his award winning burger.

“We’re going to keep the foundation of our menu the same as it has always been,” he said. “Great pizzas, delicious wings and our strangely addictive Brussels sprouts. And of course, the Coals burger, which recently took second place out of 23 at Westchester Magazine’s Burger and Beer Blast.”

Steve Sampson, a White Plains resident that said he goes to Coals “whenever he’s in the area,” said that he thinks it will be a hit in a small village such as Bronxville.

“What I like about the place is that it’s a whole different type of pizza, and it’s something you can’t just get everywhere, so it’s even more special when you do,” he said. “I think it’ll do great in a place like (Eastchester), where there are already only so many pizza places. Now they have the best one.”
