EASTCHESTER, N.Y. A ribbon cutting ceremony and red carpet affair was held Monday evening to celebrate the grand opening of New Image Laser and Med Spa in Eastchester on Fisher Avenue.
Complete with a faux-red carpet, television camera and a movie premiere-worthy backdrop, the spas staff gathered with community members and local officials, including Town Supervisor Anthony Colavita.
Dr. Dominick Artuso said that the office features some of the finest equipment available. He said his practice is one of three in the lower New York area to have the same state-of-the-art tattoo-removing equipment.
Typically, in six to eight monthly treatments we can get a tattoo to fade or disappear completely. Its also a good machine to tighten skin without injections, he said. Its a very painful treatment. What traditional machines can do in three minutes we can complete in 30 to 45 seconds.
SmoothShapes, a cellulite reduction procedure will also be available at the new spa. Artuso said that as many as 90 percent of women, regardless of weight, get cellulite. SmoothShapes is a treatment that can be completed in 20 minute sessions held twice a week over four weeks.
Artuso said that they will also offer Smart Lipo, a treatment that uses laser energy to break down fat without harming other cells. He said he is one of a handful of doctors who offers this procedure in Westchester County.
Traditional liposuction is under the skin and you sometimes break up blood vessels, which can lead to painful bruising, he said. The laser melts the fat and its a natural breakdown. Theres only a 24-48-hour recovery window before youre back to work.
Prior to coming to head the New Image Laser and Med Spa, Artuso had been doing smaller care in a surgery practice in Dobbs Ferry. Now as a part of a larger operation, he said he wants to become an integral part of the community.
We want to bring the community a level of education and sophistication to their medical procedures, he said. We hope to bring people to the area to see our practice, and on the way we hope they stop at some of our other local merchants. The businesses in the area should all feed off each other.
For Marina Bonci, spa CEO, the night was about more than just the opening of her newest business venture. She dedicated the night to her father, Edward, who passed away a few months ago.
This is about the best thing thats ever happened to me. This night is a dedication to my dad, who had lots of input in the process, she said. We showed him the plans and called for his advice. The biggest thing is that hes not here to see it, but hes very much in this place.
