EASTCHESTER, N.Y. -- Upgrades to the Eastchester Library started Aug. 15 with new carpeting and there will be some minor layout adjustments during the renovation period.
While carpeting is being installed there will be limited access to the Main Floor Reading Area. Seating, along with a selection of popular materials and summer reading list titles, will be available on the lower level of the library.
WiFi is still available throughout the building and iPads will be available to those who wish to access the Internet or the library's catalog. Printing will also be available.
After the carpeting is installed, the new furniture will be arranged for the recently-enlarged Young Adult section of the library.
Renovations will continue throughout the remainder of the year with the replacement of fluorescent lighting with energy-efficient LED lighting.
Renovations will be done all in time for for the library's 50th anniversary at Oakridge Place in 2017.
The library is working to minimize disruption of services during the renovation. For updated information call (914) 793-5055.
These renovations are taking place in part due to the 2015 2nd Annual Eastchester 5K, which earmarked its funds for the library.
The 3rd Annual race on Sept. 25 will benefit the Eastchester Community Action Program and the Eastchester Music Boosters. Click here to register.
