EASTCHESTER, N.Y. Louis N. D'Ascoli, a former principal of Eastchester Senior High School, died April 1, in Tampa, Fla. He was 90.
D'Ascoli was principal of ESHS for 16 years before retiring in 1977. While serving as principal, he was elected to serve as president of the New York State Association of Secondary School Principals and then as president of the School Administrators Association of New York State.
During his tenure as principal, ESHS was recognized as one of the premier high schools in the metropolitan New York area.
Born in Yonkers, D'Ascoli attended Gorton High School and lived in Yonkers until his retirement, when he moved to Florida. He earned a bachelors of science degree at Fordham University and masters and doctorate degrees from Columbia University Teachers College. D'Ascoli served in Europe and the Eastern Theatre during World War II and later in Korea.
He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Margaret, and is survived by a niece, Kathleen Zaccagnino.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on April 28 at Corpus Christi Church in Port Chester.
