Koala Park was opened in May by Karina Wyllie out of her Armourvilla Avenue home. The working mother relocated her family to Westchester from Long Island in 2010, and she found local day-care options to be in short supply.
The in-home service is owned and operated by Wyllie on a full-time basis. The schedule runs for 10 hours each day, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. There is an additional part-time schedule from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.
There will be an open house from 3 to 6 p.m. on July 19 at the day-care center on Armourvilla Avenue for interested parents and children. There are still a few spots open to parents before Koala Park reaches its capacity.
Monthly tuition rates will vary. Those interested should contact the daycare center at 914-337-0110 or contact.us@koalaparkdaycare.com.
When starting Koala Park, Wyliie – who is tri-lingual - said that the long waiting lists at competing day-care centers, expensive tuition and a lack of local options were reasons parents should consider her center.
“People should be able to go off to work with confidence that their children are being well looked after,” she said. “Children should be happy and fulfilled in their care setting. By starting Koala Park, I can help meet these needs and run a successful business as well.”
