The shelter noted the cat seemed hungry and exhausted when it was brought in -- so it may have been missing for a while.
On the shelter's Facebook post about the found cat, Stuart Rabin thanked the Eastchester Police Department "for responding to my call with professionalism and care to ensure this weak backyard visitor gets the care they deserve" and also thanked the shelter for taking the cat.
