EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – The 88-year-old Eastchester woman who went missing last week before being found in the Bronx River died from drowning by asphyxiation, the Westchester County medical examiner has determined.
The body of Catherine “Kay” Cotter, who suffered from dementia, was found Friday after a lengthy search of the area near her Garth Road home and the woods along the Bronx River Parkway. Police also checked all train stations between Scarsdale and Grand Central.
A volunteer first found a hat near the parkway and Leewood Drive in Eastchester. A local police official later found Cotter in the river.
