The blaze burned two attached houses on Gold Street in Yonkers on Saturday, leaving 16 people and their pets without a place to lay their heads, fire officials said. No injuries were reported.
The fire was reported to the Yonkers Fire Department at approximately 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, when residents of a two-story house smelled smoke and alerted authorities. The fire proceeded to spread to an attached house, officials said. Both structures suffered damage from fire, smoke and water.
Officials said the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
