Eastchester Man Facing Drug Charges After Stop In Parked Car In Catskills

Two Westchester residents were in a parked car in upstate New York on Sunday when found to be in possession of drugs, state police said.

Thomas Dowd, 61, of Somers was operating a vehicle that was parked along Route 23 in the Town of Catskill in Greene County and was found to be in possession of a quantity of cocaine, police said.

Dowd was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fth degree (a Class D felony) and DWAI by drugs (a vehicle and traffic misdemeanor).

John Careccia, 49, of Eastchester was a passenger in the vehicle and was found to be in possession of Alprazolam pills without a legal prescription.

Careccia was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance seventh degree (a Class A misdemeanor).

Both Dowd and Careccia were arraigned in Town of Catskill Court. Dowd was remanded to the Greene County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond. Careccia was released on his own recognizance.
