EASTCHESTER, N.Y. -- In celebration of Police Memorial Week, the Tuckahoe Police Department is inviting the community to a special open house on Saturday afternoon, May 17.
Many of Tuckahoe’s Finest will be on hand from noon-2 p.m. outside the department for a series of demonstrations, displays, games and tours of the station.
Officers will be on hand to answer any questions the community may have and will have a firearms training simulator demonstration. The department’s special units, including the motorcycle and emergency response teams, will also be on hand to show off their equipment.
Tours of the police station will be held every half-hour, and there will be games and prizes for kids. The open house is one of several community outreach programs that the department holds each year to help foster a stronger relationship with residents.
“The community needs to see that we’re not all about arresting people; we want to help. As kids grow up, we want them to have a positive image of the police,” Sgt. Abe Bautista said at National Night Out, another community event, this year. “We’re in a partnership with the community. We need to break down any barriers that exist.”
