Tuckahoe Traffic Stop Leads To Federal Guilty Plea

TUCKAHOE, N.Y. – A registered sex offender who was found to be in possession of a gun during a February traffic stop in Tuckahoe has pleaded guilty to a federal gun charge.

According to the Journal News, Maurice Yarborough, 40, pleaded guilty at federal court in White Plains to being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Yarborough was previously convicted of raping a 15-year-old girl in Yonkers and has a first-degree attempted robbery conviction in Mount Vernon. He was living in the Bronx at the time of his February arrest.

On Feb. 17, Yarborough was stopped in Tuckahoe for driving without headlights, police said, and officers found his eyes to be bloodshot, his speech slurred and his car smelled like marijuana.

During a search of the vehicle, police found a loaded .38-caliber Ruger with hollow-point bullets in his bag. He is currently being held without bond, and is scheduled for sentencing on Sept. 30 in White Plains.
