These professional and curriculum development grants, ranging from $100 to $500, are awarded annually to individual teachers or teams of teachers within the Teacher Center consortium for the following reasons:
- To support projects that focus on the implementation of New York state Common Core Learning Standards and Assessments
- To support projects involving curriculum areas for grades K-12 in pursuit of replicable improvements in education that are researched and standards-based
- To simulate creative solutions to specific local problems and to encourage fresh approaches to teaching
- To enable individuals or groups to obtain funds to test, study, develop and implement standards-based practices that address educational needs and improve student achievement.
The following each won a grant in the amount of $234.75 to support a program entitled "A Google Garden in Kindergarten":
Alison Tyne, Alexandra Mineo, Kelly Soares, Joanne Casey, Jennifer Batz, Meghan Galvao, Nicole Ullrich, Katherine Engborg, Rachel Tortorella, Katie-Anne Hengel, Ellen C. Eldred, Toni Ann Varvaro, Kathleen Dragonetti, Angela Greenbaum, and Victoria Borsella.
Teacher Molly Culbertson was awarded $165 for "Using a Document Camera to Enrich".
