EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – Three seventh-grade students of Eastchester Middle School teacher Mary Leptak have been recognized by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP) Metropolitan Chapter.
Student Sakura Abdel-Rahman won the poster competition for her entry, which was in Spanish, and was based on Argentina. In the website competition, winners Kevin Walsh and Austin Summer created a website in Spanish on the culture and geography of Argentina.
The three students will each be presented with an award and a financial prize at the AATSP Awards Ceremony at John Jay College on March 21.
The website winners will also complete a presentation of their website to a group of Spanish educators and representatives from the Argentine Consulate.
