EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – The Westchester Conservatory of Music, which works with special needs students in Eastchester, has received an award from the ASCAP Foundation.
The Barbara and John LoFrumento Award was presented to officials from the conservatory’s music therapy program at ceremonies on Wednesday, Dec. 9, at the Jazz at Lincoln Center venue in New York City.
ASCAP stands for the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers.
Accepting the award were: Eastchester schools Superintendent Dr. Walter Moran; Noreen Urso, assistant superintendent of pupil personnel; and Lisa Sandagata from the Westchester Music Therapy Institute.
It will enable the institute to expand its programs and provide weekly therapy sessions, including songwriting and instrumental instruction, to special needs students in Eastchester.
