Nuzzi presently holds the same position at the Putnam Valley Central School District, where she has served for nearly a decade. She also has experience working as an assistant superintendent of curriculum, instruction and personnel.

At 7:30 p.m. on May 7 the Board of Education will vote on the appointment in the Cottle Auditorium at a special meeting. Following the meeting, Nuzzi will meet-and-greet with parents and students, sharing her ideas about enhancing and moving the school district forward.

The selection of Nuzzi comes after the Board of Education conducted three searches over two years with various recruiting firms. She will make $235,000 in the 2013-2014 year and the term of her contract is three years.

Nuzzi’s contract will be enacted on May 7, and she will assume the position of superintendent on Aug. 1.

In a statement, Board of Education President Julio Urbina said that a survey filled out by 225 members of the community, asking for important characteristics in a school leader, helped lead to Nuzzi’s selection.

“The Board much appreciates the patience and support of our entire school community in this long process,” he said. “There was great commonality across groups from teachers to parents to students with regard to the most important characteristics. These characteristics guided our search, ultimately leading to our selection of Nuzzi.”
