Registration Begins For Tuckahoe Challenge Road Race

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – While many runners are busy exercising indoors on treadmills during the current heat wave, temperatures will likely be cooler when the Tuckahoe Challenge Road Race returns to Eastchester for the 37th year.

Registration has started for the popular race, which will kick off at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 8. The Challenge includes a one-mile race for short distance competitors and a five-mile race for runners who want a longer challenge.

All races start and finish at the Tuckahoe Community Center. The one-mile race begins at 9 a.m. and is mostly a flat track. The longer race begins a half-hour later and features a few rolling hills between the second and fourth miles.

Once again Hudson Valley Bank is the primary sponsor in coordination with the Village of Tuckahoe. Prizes and awards will be given to the top participants, and there will be raffles for all competitors.

Proceeds will be donated to Tuckahoe Beautification, the Tuckahoe Senior Center, the Eastchester Community Action Program and the Eastchester Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Registration forms are available at Tuckahoe Village Hall and the Tuckahoe Village website. If you pre-register, prices vary from $10 – one race for children or seniors – to $25 – for those doing “The Challenge” (running in both races). Costs go up an additional $5 for runners who register the day of the race.
