The New York State Department of Transportation issued an alert on Friday, cautioning that beginning on Monday, Aug.6, a $5.2 million repaving project will begin on Post Road in Scarsdale.

According to officials, “the NYSDOT is going to do the job right so that it addresses a variety of existing physical roadway problems and ultimately delivers a traveling surface that will withstand the test of time and heavy usage. Doing it right translates into noise, lights, and heavy vehicle construction work involving long sections of Post Road.”

Officials said that heavy machinery and portable roadway construction lighting will be in place from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, beginning Monday, as the project commences in the village. They noted that the “NYSDOT will endeavor to conduct the most disruptive elements of their work as early as possible on each day so as to minimize nighttime noise.”

The work is scheduled to begin near the Eastchester border, and will proceed north from there. The project is expected to be complete shortly after Labor Day. During the scope of the project, officials have asked locals to avoid traveling on Post Road, if possible. There will be detours in place and delays are expected while work is being completed.
