Moving forward, all iOS-based software releases will be universal, meaning they will also be available for iPod touch and iPhone devices, not just the tablet. The children’s interactive storybook app will remain at its current $0.99 price.

Double Dog Dare CEO Shawn Pero said that following the release of the app late last year, Apple officials reached out about expanding the product further.

“Immediately after releasing our ‘Insects, Aside!’ storybook app, iOS users asked us when they could use our software on more commonly owned iOS devices, such as iPhones,” he said.

Pero added that they felt the product could be optimized on an iPad, but with a few small alterations, were able to accommodate the smaller screens of an iPhone or iPod.

“We originally intended the app to make use of the space afforded by larger iPad screens as being more touch-friendly for kids enjoying our software,” he said. By carefully redesigning the artwork and text interface for smaller screens, we’re confident we’ve created a product that’s every bit as fun and functional as the original iPad version.”

The company has also released its tentative schedule of products for the second half of 2013. During the summer, the first Weenie and Mustard standalone game, “Color Clamor,” will be released. The action-puzzle, color-matching game will feature multiple levels that require increasing skill. By winter, they expect to have the next app in the children’s book series available.
