All proceeds will benefit a major renovation to the library that will provide a more lively and modern children’s room. New carpeting and a 3D book-themed circulation area populated by children's book characters, such as Greg from the Wimpy Kid series and Winnie the Pooh, also will be installed this fall.
The fair will celebrate the library's vibrant role in the lives of the children of the community. This family event will include crafts, games, food, LEGO workshops and raffles. The day also will include activities for pets.
The fair also will include a library mascot competition with a prize, a pet poetry contest and a pet look-a-like competition. If someone's pet resembles Pete the Cat or Harry the Dirty Dog, or any other dog or cat in a library book, they can submit a picture of themselves with their pet and the book to win a prize. Submissions for the pet poetry contest will be accepted from Aug. 30 through Sept. 13.
