Former Teacher Gives Local Lessons to Home Buyers

Adele Higgins spent much of her life as an educator, focusing on children who were outside the mainstream — those with special needs as well as those who were extremely gifted academically. Now, she takes equal delight in finding just the right houses for her buyers as well as marketing sellers homes to the highest level.

Often, that leads them to Fairfield, and in particular, to the Greenfield Hill section of town, where Higgins works for the Higgins Group, Greenfield Hill Realty Group, based out of the only real estate office in Greenfield Hill.

But it's not just where she works — Higgins has lived in Fairfield for the past 16 years. It has given her a "home-field advantage" in knowing and extolling the virtues of what she feels is the best place to live in the county.

"Fairfield has really come into its own in the last decade or so," she said. "It's a real family community, with so much to offer. You have the beach, the lake area, a downtown that's really expanded, especially with many new restaurants."

As a former teacher as well as a parent, Higgins knows firsthand the excellent educational opportunities that abound in Fairfield, with both public and private offerings. Her son attended Fairfield Country Day School in Greenfield Hill. "The schools are a big selling point, especially to young families," she said.

Higgins and her fellow agents at the Higgins Group, Greenfield Hill Realty Group say their local connections give them a unique perspective on the area. "We're committed to the community," she added, noting her involvement in many local charities and educational groups, such as the Junior League of Eastern Fairfield County and the Greenfield Hill Congregational Church. Higgins Group is also an exclusive affiliate of Christies International Real Estate which gives them a global advantage as well.

"We want to see people achieve their real estate expectations and goals in finding a great place to live. We're the neighborhood professionals who can make that happen."
