Eco-friendly residents will have the chance to celebrate sustainability and Mother Earth on Saturday during the town’s sixth annual Green Day Festival.

This year, the Eastchester Environmental Committee has enlisted the services of more than 70 organizations and vendors, which will preach the importance of respecting nature.

Several organizations will be setting up exhibits for kids, including the Audubon Society, Greenburgh Nature Center and the County’s Veggie Van. Children will be introduced to the basics of composting, solar energy, green roofs and other sustainable initiatives.

Vendors will feature “green” products, giveaways, home goods, a farmer’s market and fresh, local organic food. Local restaurants will be selling specials, and there will be recycling bins, rain barrels and compost bins sold at cost to those in attendance.

Winners of the Eastchester Environmental Committee poster and poetry contests will be honored and there will be musical performances from Solar Punch, Musical Munchkins and Scott Rocco.

The sixth annual Green Day Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at Eastchester Town Hall. All Eastchester, Tuckahoe and Bronxville residents are invited to attend the free vent.
