PLEASE TAKE THE TIME AND VOTE AT THIS YEARS FIRE COMMISSIONERS ELECTION

The Fire District election is routinely overlooked by Eastchester residents, as less than 4 percent of eligible voters turnout to vote. The approved 2013 budget for The Eastchester Fire department is $16.3M and directly impacts your tax assessment. This election should be taken just as serious as any Town Election or School Board Election for these board members manage and administrate a budget that is larger than the individual town budgets of Bronxville or Tuckahoe.

The Eastchester Board of Fire Commissioners election will take place on December 11, 2012 to appoint a member of the Eastchester Board of Fire Commissioners for a term of five (5) years. The Eastchester fire department is a separate and autonomous unit of government and serves Bronxville as well as Tuckahoe. It is governed by A Board of (5) five Fire Commissioners who are responsible for general administration; the appointment of department personnel, physician, attorney, secretary, and the preparation and, after a public hearing, the adoption of the annual Fire District budget.

While this budget appears in the town-at-large budget, the Eastchester Town Board is not authorized to alter in any way.
