What To Do Around Eastchester This Week

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – Although schools will be closed for winter recess, there will be no shortage of events for children this week around Eastchester and Bronxville.

Monday, Feb. 18

Presidents Day: Most public town and village facilities are closed.

Spousal Loss Support Group: 2:30 p.m. Open to adults who have lost a spouse or life partner. Jansen Hospice office. 670 Post Road, Eastchester.

Tuesday, Feb. 19

Tax Help: 9 a.m.-2 p.m. The AARP will offer free tax advice for residents at the Eastchester Public Library. 11 Oakridge Place, Eastchester.

Princess Training: 2 p.m. An afternoon of princess-related activities will be held at the Bronxville Public Library. 201 Pondfield Road, Bronxville.

Club Day: 2 p.m. The monthly business meeting of the Bronxville Women’s Club will be open to the public. 135 Midland Ave., Bronxville.

Sing-A-Long: 2 p.m. Children up to age 6 are invited to the Tuckahoe Public Library for a sing-a-long of their favorite songs. 71 Columbus Ave., Tuckahoe.

Paws and Tales: 4 p.m.-5 p.m. The Tuckahoe Public Library is offering beginning readers the chance to practice reading their favorite tales aloud to furry, friendly therapy dogs. All dogs are certified and registered through the Good Dog Foundation. Story-loving dogs will be available for 10-minute reading sessions. Tax Grievance Day: 5 p.m.-9 p.m. Have a complaint about your taxes? File a grievance in Tuckahoe. 65 Main St., Tuckahoe.

Childbirth Class: 7:30 p.m. Childbirth classes are offered for expectant parents. Parents can attend class on three consecutive Tuesdays or complete the entire session on a single Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The cost is $200 per couple. Lawrence Hospital, 55 Palmer Ave., Bronxville.

Wednesday, Feb. 20

Social Needlers: 11 a.m.-noon. Bring in a needlecraft project to work on while getting to know fellow handicrafters at the Bronxville Public Library. This is a social hour; no formal instruction will be given. 201 Pondfield Road, Bronxville.

Afternoon Movie: 12:30 p.m. The Tuckahoe Public Library will continue its movie series for adults with a screening of “The Odd Life of Timothy Green.” 71 Columbus Ave., Tuckahoe.

Lego Robotics: 2 p.m. A demonstration of Lego Robotics with robots built by “Rockin’ Robots.” 11 Oakridge Place, Eastchester.

Thursday, Feb. 21

Computer Class: Noon. One-on-one computer classes will be held at the Tuckahoe Public Library. 71 Columbus Ave., Tuckahoe.

Knight Training: 2 p.m. An afternoon of knight-related activities will be featured at the Bronxville Public Library. Design your own sword and slay a dragon. 201 Pondfield Road, Bronxville.

Teen Craft: 4 p.m. The Tuckahoe Public Library will host a craft night designed for teenagers. 71 Columbus Ave., Tuckahoe.
