Mindy Corporon who is the founder of giveSevenDays.org spoke to the students about the senseless tragedy she and her family endured on April 13, 2014, when her 14-year-old son and her father were collateral victims during the shooting by a neo-Nazi at the Jewish Community Campus and Village Shalom in Overland Park, Kan.

Corporon also spoke of her family's history, as her grandmother saved a Jewish family from Hitler's Nazis in Greece during World War II.

"What a wonderful experience for the students," said Middle School English language arts teacher MaryAnn Cahalin.

"Mrs. Corporon spoke of learned hatred, the importance of tolerance and the power of kindness and love," she said. "The slogan for her organization is 'Make a Ripple: Change the World'. What a wonderful message of empowerment and hope for our future leaders."

Yvettee Manessis Corporon, mother of Chapel School seventh-grader Nico, wrote a novel based on the heroics of her grandmother-in-law called, "When the Cypress Whispers".
