EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – Although Thanksgiving has yet to pass, officials in the Village of Tuckahoe are looking for the right blue spruce tree to be a highlight of this year’s local holiday festivities.

Santa Claus has been known to make an appearance at Winterfest in Tuckahoe each year.

Tuckahoe officials are soliciting donations for a blue spruce tree that is between 20 and 30 feet tall, which will be decorated with holiday lights and decorations, then put on display in Depot Square in the heart of the village throughout the holiday season.

The family that donates the Christmas tree then will be recognized in front of the community at Winterfest, the village’s annual holiday celebration.

Winterfest kicks off at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6 with the grand unveiling and Christmas tree lighting at Depot Square. Then there will be a holiday celebration featuring live entertainment and festive music.

The holiday celebration continues the following day in Depot Square, with ice skating from noon to 5 p.m., reindeer and hay rides from noon until 4 p.m.
