Eastchester Elementary Students To Play In County Band

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – Three musicians at the Greenvale Elementary School in Eastchester will represent the district at the Westchester County School Music Festival.

Eastchester students Sofia Mottura, Alexander Jutt and Christopher Tyrrell will play for the county at SUNY Purchase.

Sofia Mottura will play flute and Christopher Tyrrell will play percussion in the all-county band. Alexander Jutt will be featured on the cello in the all-county orchestra.

The Eastchester musicians won the seats from among thousands of peers in the county who auditioned for seats. They have been taking weekly lessons and practicing daily to prepare themselves to represent the school district.

The trio will begin rehearsals with other elementary school instrumentalists in Chappaqua on March 14. They will then play at the Elementary and Intermediate All-County Music Festival at the SUNY Purchase Performing Arts Center that weekend.

At 11 a.m. on March 16 the all-county band will have its performance, followed by a chorus concert at 4 p.m. At 11 a.m. on March 17, the all-county orchestra will end the weekend’s festivities with its concert.
