TUCKAHOE, N.Y. - A pair of local high school seniors will continue their education in the fall courtesy of scholarships from the Tuckahoe-Eastchester Chamber of Commerce.

Elisabeth Lefer and Kurt Hellthaler are the recipients of scholarships that were funded through the 2013 Scholarship Fund, which local residents and merchants have been donating toward since last year.

Lefer is a senior and honor student at Tuckahoe High School. She was a member of the band, was involved in several sports and won a Girl Scout Gold Award. Lefer tutored her peers in math and the clarinet and held down a part-time job. In the fall, she will be attending Fordham University.

Hellthaler is a senior honor student at Eastchester High School. He is a D.A.R.E. Role Model, member of the EGO and the vice president of the ski club. Hellthaler is actively involved locally with the Yonkers Police Department and Eastchester Volunteer Ambulance Corps. He will be attending the University of Tampa in the fall.

The 2014 Scholarship Fund Drive has already started. Those interested can donate online.
