Andrus workers spent the summer looking for donations of new, fully stocked elementary and middle school backpacks for the 2,500 children the organizations serves at 14 sites around Westchester County. The contributions will support children in the special education Orchard School, mental health clinics and various early childhood education, after-school and community programs.
The backpack program continues through September with a goal of 1,000 bags. They have more than 700 so far.
For more than 80 years, Andrus has been a provider of programs and services for children and families throughout Westchester County and the tri-state area. Every year, it reaches more than 2,500 children and families with a broad spectrum of preventive and restorative services for families and their children from birth through adolescence.
