Ingrid Caffrey, 65, Eastchester Native

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – Ingrid Gustafsson Caffrey, a former Eastchester resident, died May 24 of complications from melanoma. She was 65.  

She was born Dec. 13, 1946 in Bronxville, N.Y., to Jean and Thure”Charlie" Gustafsson. Raised in Eastchester, Caffrey attended Eastchester High School, where she was a cheerleader for the Eagles. She was most recently of Greenwich, Conn.

An avid tennis fan, Caffrey was a member of the Burning Tree Country Club women's team. She was a graduate of the Katharine Gibbs School. In recent years, her favorite job was running "Camp Meena" for her grandchildren.

Caffrey spent this past Mother's Day weekend surrounded by family, celebrating her 39th wedding anniversary and enjoying chocolate soufflé at Valbella in Old Greenwich, Conn.  

She is survived by her husband, Edward; a daughter, Kirsten; two sons, Scott and Sean; a brother, James and four grandchildren. 

Calling hours were held Monday at Leo P. Gallagher and Son Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Riverside, Conn. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Mausoleum of St. Mary's Cemetery in Greenwich.  

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Westchester Jewish Community Services, CRC Attn: Gramatan House, 6 Gramatan Ave., Suite 401,  Mount Vernon, NY 10550.
