Iorio, Ex-Eastchester Local, Honored Saturday

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. - Former Eastchester resident, Irene Iorio died suddenly on Feb. 14. She was 82.

Born Dec. 11, 1929 in Eckley, Penn., she was the daughter of Michael and Mary Tarapchak. Iorio attended schools in Eckley and Hazleton, Penn. before relocating to Mt. Vernon. She met and married F. Emile "Red" Iorio, Jr. and they settled in Eastchester. He predeceased her on Sept. 11, 1965.

Iorio lived in Eastchester until 1995, when she retired from Sigmund Cohn Corp. in Mt. Vernon and moved to Hershey, Penn. She was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church in Tuckahoe and St. Joan of Arc Church in Hershey.

She is survived by her son F. Emile Iorio of Ossining, her daughter Joy (Howard) Chapman of Pleasantville, her brothers Michael Tarapchak of Levittown, Penn., Steve Tarapchak of Grantville, Penn. and Peter Tarapchak of Drums, Penn. and four grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Paul Tarapchak and her sisters Anna Christina, Mary Zacharias and Theresa Broskoskie.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Beecher Funeral Home in Pleasantville. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Holy Innocents Church in Pleasantville, followed by burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
