Laser and Med Spa Set to Debut in Eastchester

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – When the doors open Monday morning at the New Image Laser and Med Spa, it will be the realization of a dream for lifelong Eastchester resident Marina Bonci and Dr. Dominick P. Artuso.

Bonci said Wednesday she has always been fascinated by laser technology and even hosted a radio talk show on the subject on WGCH-AM 1490. The longtime cosmetologist, who at one point hoped to become a dermatologist, got involved with lasers about four years ago.

"I was so intrigued by it, seeing sunspots removed," Bonci said. "I got into it, working with doctors, and met Dr. Artuso."

Artuso was familiar with Bonci from her radio show and knew she had been working with lasers. "He had a desire to open a laser and medical spa, and he said to me, 'Find a spot,'" Bonci said. "And I found this."

"This" is a storefront at 132 Fisher Ave., a block off White Plains Road and across the street from a municipal metered parking lot. Workers were busy Wednesday preparing the space for its Monday opening. The New Image Laser and Med Spa will offer Smartlipo Triplex and SmoothShapes for body reshaping. Smartlipo Triplex, administered by Arturo, uses lasers to melt fat, which is then suctioned out through small incisions. Then lasers are used to tighten and tone the surrounding tissue. SmoothShapes, done by Bonci, uses lasers and light energy with mechanical manipulation to rid the appearance of cellulite.

Lasers will also remove skin blemishes such as sun spots, port wine stains and tattoos.

A registered nurse, Anita Wolf, is also on board. She worked with Artuso in the past and shared his dream of opening the business.

New Image Laser and Med Spa will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. Bonci said off-hours appointments can be arranged. "We will be very accommodating," she said. Patients can call 914-771-5700 for an appointment or go to the website for more information.

Monday's opening will be especially emotional for Bonci, whose father, Edward J. Bonci, died last month.

"He knew this was my dream, and he was looking forward to seeing the opening," she said as her eyes teared up. "I want to thank Dr. Artuso for helping make that dream a reality. I'm sure my father will be looking down and smiling."
