WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. - Con Edison is mobilizing hundreds of company crews and out-of-state personnel to respond to any outages caused by the strong nor’easter -- known as winter storm Nemo -- that began hitting the region Friday.
Heavy snow, freezing rain and strong winds might affect trees and overhead power lines. Safety should be a top priority, the utility company said in a statement.
The company will have approximately 500 personnel performing damage assessment, site safety and tree clearing. In addition to Con Edison crews, some 250 outside contractors will assist with power restorations.
Crews will make restorations as weather conditions permit and as roads become cleared of snow and fallen trees.
The company reminds customers to take safety precautions and avoid any downed power lines.

Depending on the severity of storm damage, crews will prioritize restoring service lines, which will provide power to the most customers as quickly as possible. They will then restore smaller groups and individual customers who are without power.
Call 1-800-75-CONED (1-800-752-6633) to report outages. When reporting an outage, have your Con Edison account number available, if possible. You can also report whether neighbors have lost power.
Customers who report outages will be called by Con Edison with their estimated restoration times as they become available.
