Parkway Oval Field, which is primarily used by Tuckahoe High School’s baseball teams and a men’s softball league run through the Eastchester Recreation Department, has been a spot of emphasis for local officials for some time.

Last year, new concrete pads were installed along the baselines of the field, and the fencing was raised to eight feet, with two additional gates added for increased safety.

This week, contractors began work repairing the bleachers and cement steps surrounding the field, as well as constructing new retaining walls. Brand new “on-deck” circles and additional fencing surrounding the field is also scheduled to be installed as part of this phase of the project

According to local officials who teamed to make the renovation project possible, “the new bleachers will allow for fans to have a safe place to sit and watch the games, while the ‘on-deck’ circle will provide a protected area for the next batter to warm up.”EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – With the Major League Baseball schedule heating up as the Mets continue their postseason run, officials in Eastchester recently broke ground at the Parkway Oval Field on key renovations in advance of spring’s baseball season.
