Concetta A. Celestino, 98, Longtime Tuckahoe Resident

TUCKAHOE, N.Y. - Concetta A. (Connie) Celestino (Nee Bassi), a longtime resident of Tuckahoe, died Nov. 19. She was 98.

Celestino was born Jan. 3, 1915, in Veroli, Italy, (Province of Frosinone), to Emilio and Marietta (Palma) Bassi. She immigrated to the United States at the age of five. She attended the Tuckahoe Schools and graduated from Our Lady of Victory Secretarial School in Mt. Vernon in 1934. She was a 50 year member of the choir at the Assumption Church and a member of the Altar Rosary Society at the Assumption. She was a longtime member of the Tuckahoe Seniors.

Celestino is survived by her children, William N. Celestino of Congers, Thomas P. Celestino (Michele) of Scarsdale and James F. Celestino of Tuckahoe; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sisters, Julia Bassi Jackubiak, Florence Bassi Neumann (Gareth); brother, Raymond Bassi Sr.; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Augustino A. Celestino; and siblings, Elena Bassi Spencer, Yolanda Bassi Denti, Rubina Bassi Petrucelli, Gulia Bassi, Alfred Bassi, and Paul Bassi.

Calling hours are Thursday, Nov. 21 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Westchester Funeral Home, Inc. 190 Main St. Eastchester. A Mass of the Requiem will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 22 at the Church of The Assumption, Tuckahoe. Entombment to follow at Ferncliff Cemetery Mausoleum in Hartsdale.
