At approximately 9:22 a.m. on Thursday, June 1, a Beverly Road homeowner reported to police that she has observed a driver in a truck strike the wall in front of her home, who was then attempting to flee the area.
Police said that officers quickly arrived at the scene and the subsequent investigation into the incident determined that the driver, 30-year-old Lindenhurst resident Furkat Saidov’s license had multiple suspensions on it. The Long Island resident was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
Saidov was released on $200 bail and is due back in Bronxville Village Court later this year.
Other items on the Bronxville Police Department blotter from May 25 through June 5 include:
- A 44-year-old man from Easton, Penn. was arrested on Memorial Day for driving while intoxicated after being stopped while traveling the wrong way on a one-way street. Francisco Garay was also cited for driving the wrong way around a traffic island, for driving without headlights and refusal to take a breath test. He was released on $200 bail and is due back in court later this year.
- On Friday, June 2, a Formal Road homeowner reported to police that six of his checks totaling nearly $20,000 had been fraudulently checked. The incident is currently being investigated.
- The following day, a Parkway Road resident alerted police to a scam involving a hacker. Police said her laptop was taken over by a hacker, who locked it and displayed a phone number to call and unlock it. The homeowner proceeded to call the number, and spoke to a man who demanded $650 to unlock it. The ransom was paid and the incident was reported to police, who are actively investigating. The condition of the laptop was not available.
