EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – Residents need to exercise more caution when parking their car overnight, as unknown suspects continue to enter unlocked cars looking for loose change and other goods, Eastchester Police Lt. Robert Jensen said.

A New Rochelle Road resident reported an auto larceny to police Wednesday morning. According to the victim, he parked his 2008 Chrysler Town and Country and 2012 Nissan in his driveway Jan. 25, and discovered that both vehicles had been entered the next morning.

According to Jensen, a Coach wallet, valued at $200 and a pink change purse was taken from the Nissan. Nothing was stolen from the Chrysler, but there were clear signs that the console and glove box had been rummaged through.

Both vehicles were left unlocked, Jensen said.

“This is a good reminder that residents need to lock their cars, because these types of things have been happening on and off,” he said. “There’s no signs of forced entry, and they’re just looking to take little things like change, sunglasses and things like that.”

On Monday morning, a Rye Brook woman was arrested after she was found to have a warrant in Eastchester after failing to appear in court for vehicle and traffic violations.

Miryam Ravina, 37, was stopped by police who said she was speeding on California Road. During a records check, officers found that the vehicle’s registration was suspended due to an insurance lapse and that she had a warrant out after failing to appear in court for similar offenses.

Ravina was issued two summons for speeding and the suspended registration and was released on her own recognizance. She is due back in court on Feb. 6.
