Board members manage and administer a budget that is larger than the individual town budgets of Bronxville or Tuckahoe, the town said, so it is important for all residents to vote.

The approved 2014 budget for The Eastchester Fire District is $16.7 million.

The Eastchester Board of Fire Commissioners election takes place on Tuesday, Dec. 10 to appoint a member of the Eastchester Board of Fire Commissioners for a term of five years. Polling hours are from 2 to 9 p.m.

The current fire commissioner is Richard Steigelman. He is running against Peter Incledon.

The Eastchester Fire District is a separate and autonomous unit of government and serves Eastchester, Bronxville, as well as Tuckahoe.

It is governed by a board of five Fire Commissioners who are responsible for general administration and the appointment of department personnel, physician, attorney, secretary, as well as the preparation and adoption of the annual Fire District budget, after a public hearing.

While this budget appears in the town-at-large budget, the Eastchester Town Board is not authorized to alter it in any way.

In Tuckahoe districts 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 32 and 33, you can vote at the Tuckahoe Community Center at 71 Columbus Ave.

In Bronxville districts 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21 and 22 the polling location is at the Bronxville Village Hall at 200 Pondfield Road.
