Shortly after 2:15 a.m. on Wednesday, April 19, a Berwick Road resident reported to police that two masked men were in her home, prompting an intervention from first responders.
According to Scarsdale Police Capt. Thomas Altizio, police were on the scene in less than three minutes, where they then began interviewing the victims while additional units canvassed the immediate area in search of the suspects.
At the time of the incident, Altizio said that the victims reported that they were in bed when they were woken up by the sounds of two men running through the home. Both the husband and wife confronted the two suspects, and a physical altercation broke out between the homeowners and suspects, who managed to flee the scene.
The incident sparked an intensive investigation by the Scarsdale Police Department and Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, which led to the arrest of 25-year-old Mount Vernon resident Alexander Crooks and Bronx resident Antwan Hall, who have both been charged with a felony count of second-degree burglary.
Both men were arraigned in Scarsdale Justice Court on Tuesday and remanded to the Westchester County Jail. The investigation is ongoing and police expect additional arrests in the future. Both Crooks and Hall are due back in court.
