Charles Yancy, 63, and Hasan Shareef, 36, were charged with felony counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
The Tuckahoe Police Department received complaints from the community several months ago, and county police were asked to participate in the investigation, O'Leary said.
The suspects were arraigned in Tuckahoe Village Court and sent to Westchester County Jail in Valhalla.
They were taken into custody shortly before 6 a.m. when members of the Tuckahoe, Eastchester, Bronxville and Pelham joint Emergency Response Team made a forcible entry at the Midland Place apartment.
According to police, approximately five grams of crack cocaine was recovered. It was divided in 10 small packages for sale, police said. Nearly $1,600 in cash was also recovered.
Tuckahoe Police Chief John Costanzo praised the teamwork of the many units working the case.
“This joint effort of the Tuckahoe Police Department and Westchester County Department of Public Safety is a great example of the benefit of our department having the ability to draw on the resources of the county police to work cooperatively in ridding our community of a drug location,” he said.
Bail was set at $15,000 cash or $30,000 bond for Yancy. Shareef was being held without bail.
