The Board announced that Marcotte won the District 10 County Legislator primary with 118 to 47, according to a press release. Representatives called Marcotte's victory "remarkable" as she was a write-in candidate, according to the release.

Marcotte said in the release that she is grateful for the tremendous support she received from Independence party members across the district.

"This is a very gratifying victory for my campaign but more important, it is a victory for the principles of fair and honest elections," Marcotte said in the release. "The true spirit of the Independence Party has been affirmed by the rank and file members. The huge margin of victory in this race is a clear rebuke to the back room-dealing and patronage-begging that the Independence Party bosses have engaged in."

Marcotte later added in the release, "Now that we have secured the Independence Party line for the Nov. 5 election, I look forward to a series of face to face exchanges with my opponent so that all of the voters of District 10 can compare my record of reducing taxes through advocating for smarter, more efficient government operations to the proposals of my opponent."
