EASTCHESTER, N.Y. -- Eastchester's Anne Hutchinson Elementary School students teamed up with Scholastic Books to collect pajamas for the needy.

Students collected nearly 100 pairs of pajamas, school officials said. The kids celebrated the event by wearing their pajamas to school for their Read Along Bedtime Story Pajama Party. For each pair of donated pajamas, Scholastic Book Clubs made a book donation directly to the Pajama Program National Headquarters.

Classrooms across America have collected more than 180,000 pairs of pajamas in the last three years, school officials said.

"The children in need are often living in various situations including group homes, shelters and temporary housing facilities and are shuffled often from one place to another," representatives said.
