Eastchester Passes $75.7M School Budget

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – Eastchester voters gave the 2013-2014 school budget their stamp of approval on Tuesday, passing $75,726,680 spending plan with a 1,115-630 vote, according to preliminary results.

With three vacant seats on the Board of Education, the two incumbent trustees took the bulk of the vote, as both Mary Messner Martin and Paul Doyle claimed more than 1,200 votes each.

In the battle for the last seat, Judah Holstein edged out Anita Erzetic by less than 150 votes, winning 941-805.

The new budget represents a $2,442,207 increase from the current $73,284,473 plan. It carries a 3.7 percent maximum tax levy increase.
