EASTCHESTER, N.Y. -- Eastchester kids will get the chance to participate in athletics -- and help out their fellow humans -- at the school district’s annual Youth Sports Day and Human Rights Carnival this weekend.

The free football, soccer, volleyball, and cheerleading clinics – for Eastchester’s kindergarten through fifth-grade students -- are scheduled for 10 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday at the Eastchester High School, located at 2 Stewart Place.

Football will be played on the high school’s turf field, soccer on its grass field, volleyball in its gym, and cheerleading in the Eastchester Middle School gym, at 550 White Plains Road.

The carnival, with fun and food, will follow from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the high school. Tickets for this event are 50 cents. Funds raised by the carnival’s proceeds will go to the International Rescue Committee, a global humanitarian aid, relief and development agency, organizers said.

Coordinating with the Student Athletic Council, varsity coaches and teams will be setting up free clinics for Eastchester students in grades K-5. Students can choose Football (turf field), Soccer (grass field), Volleyball (HS gym) or Cheerleeding (MS gym – 550 White Plains Road, Eastchester).
