Eastchester Spanish Students Win Awards From Teachers Group

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. -- Three Eastchester Middle School students received awards from the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese on April 16.

Alexa Cantreva and Sophia Sabelja of Mary Leptak's seventh-grade Spanish class created the winning website of the Metropolitan New York Chapter's competition. They created a website in Spanish about Guatemala, its culture and history.

Sakura Abdel-Rahman from Katherine Shay's eighth-grade Spanish class won the chapter's poster competition for a work depicting symbols of Guatemalan culture.
