Ment retired last month after spending 26 years with ANDRUS, including 10 as CEO. Corcoran officially took over on July 1 after the learning center’s Board of Directors conducted an extensive search that spanned several months.
Since 2009, Corcoran has served as the director of the Special Fund for Poverty Alleviation, where she implemented a $170 million foundation investment strategy on behalf of George Soros’ Open Society Foundations.
In those four years, she was given the responsibility for developing programs that improved access to public benefits, broadening educational opportunities and expanding access to employment for disenfranchised people.
Before her time with the Special Fund for Poverty Alleviation, she spent seven years as the executive director of the Beginning with Children Foundation, where she was a key figure in the launch of the New York City Center for Charter School Excellence, a partnership between private foundations and the chancellor of the New York City Department of Education.
