EASTCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Tuckahoe Schools PTA is asking for nominations for the first annual "Educator of the Year" award.
The award recognizes and honors an exceptional educator who has shown commitment to the education and overall well-being of the children of Tuckahoe "beyond the call of duty" in the 2015-2016 school year, said a release.

Include the candidate's name and an explanation of why you believe the individual is deserving of this honor
Questions to consider:
- How does he or she inspire students of all backgrounds and abilities?
- What makes the educator's work in the school community outstanding?
- How has this educator created a unique, creative and positive learning environment that has impacted student learning and social development?
- How does this educator involve parents and families to be active participants in the education of their children, and engage them both at home and at school?
Submissions should be received by May 2.
The Tuckahoe PTA will be selecting one honoree at a May 3 meeting.
The award will be presented at Volunteer Recognition Night June 2.
