Students At Anne Hutchinson School In Eastchester Receive U.S. Army Flag

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – A group of second- and fourth-grade students at Anne Hutchinson Elementary School in Eastchester recently received an official American flag from a U.S. Army officer.

Students in Nelva Lagerwey's and Emma Rivera’s classes sent letters of support to Capt. Andrew Kim, according to a press release from Anne Hutchinson Elementary School.

Kim is a surgeon on active duty with the Army Medical Corps in Afghanistan.

"He is in every way just like Martin Luther King Jr.,” student Mary Nello said.

Kim sent a certificate, letter of thanks, and an official American flag that was used in Afghanistan on Jan. 12, 2015.

In his letter, Kim said that the Anne Hutchinson Elementary’s Kindness Follows Caring character education program will help make the world a better and more caring place.
