More than 120 students, siblings and parents gathered to work on various science challenges that had a central theme in engineering. The activities were designed by the Tuckahoe PTA’s Math and Science Committee.

Challenges included building marshmallow-launching catapults and designing a marble roller coaster track that introduced basic physics concepts. Parent volunteers and Tuckahoe High School students assisted the young engineers.

Several IBM engineers spoke to the students, providing them with the opportunity to interact and experience how engineers approach an issue and work collaboratively.

This was the first Tuckahoe Family Science Fun Day. The district plans to make it an annual event.
